Default Convenience Buttons and Phone Status

Please Login to Remove!

I would love to know if there is a way to use the convenience buttons for different things given the phone status.

Back when I was using my 8700 I would use the convenience key to flip on Bluetooth if I was on a call and wanted to use my BT earpiece. (I kept BT off for power consumption)

With the addition of voicedialing, I like the usefulness of the convenience button for this purpose, but obviously Voicedialing is of no purpose when you are already on the phone. I would love a way of setting it to managing connections (enabling BT) if I was on the phone already.

Anyone have a solution for this?

Your convenience key is customizable at Options > Screen/Keyboard. Scroll through the many choices there. In your case, you would set it to "Manage Connections", I do believe.

Yes, of course I could reset it as "Manage Connections". My question was more about if I could have it react as "Voicedialing" when I wasn't on the phone, and "Manage Connections" when I was on the phone.

I don't believe this is possible. It is my understanding that the Convenience Keys are static; they will only do one function ALL the time.

sort of on the same topic - can you make other keys act as a convenience key? For example - I use left for profiles, right for camera - I'd love to have another for map software - is there a program for turning keys into launchers or to expand what we have (leading back to your question, I hope)?

Thanks
