I have two questions:
1) I have on my BB the password option on, buy I disabled the option to lock the phone upon holstering. The problem is that if I leave the phone on a table or after a certain amount of time the phone locks by itself. Is there any way to disable this function so I can only lock it manually or when I turn it off?

2) I had before a BB8800 and on that phone there was a button on the top left corner to increase the brightness, decrease it or turn the screen off. Does the BB8300 have this function?

1) You should have the option to turn auto lock on/off. To manually lock the phone afterwards, just hit alt+enter from your home screen.

2) The 8300 has this option but it is under settings. There is no shortcut to change the screen brightness that I know of. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe this was the power button. Pressing the power button once will turn on the screen with the brightness and Automatic Backlight on(i.e. bring it out of its sleep state), and pressing it again will show the screen brightness without the Automatic Backlight, I believe.
