My Pearl had a shortcut to change the profile to vibrate. Does the curve have the same? I found the the ALT+Enter for Keylock but have not found a profile shortcut.

Try the MUTE button on the top of the case. On some models/OS versions that works, others not. Hit and Miss.

Depending on your carrier and theme there is an icon dedicated to Profiles. On my AT&T Curve it looks like a speaker. I have the same issue and have no faith in the mute button ( I wish there was a dedicated speaker switch like on the Treo's, but there isn't) So I programmed my right convenience button to bring up the profile options and switch back and forth from there. It is relatively quick, but still a work around.

Options -> Screen / Keyboard -> Scroll down to Right and Left side convenience keys and program what you want them to do / launch.

I use the left one to lock the keyboard in a single click and as I said I use the right one to bring up profiles.

On the Pearl if you press and hold the shift key it will switch the handheld to vibrate. I don't know if it will work on yours...

Did you try the Mute button, as JSanders suggested? On my 8700g I held it down for about 5 seconds and it switched to the vibrate profile. Holding it down again switches back to Normal.

If you hold down the Mute button, it locks the keyboard and the profile does not change, so everything rings just as I left it. The OP wanted to automatically change the profile to Vibrate - for example if you walk into a meeting or a movie theater, you would want all sounds shut off very quickly.

If the OP does not have the quick key to vibrate, set a convenience key to profiles and that will speed up the process...

Options > Screen/Keyboard > Convenience Key.

Yep, looks like you can turn off "Dial from Home Screen" and then use the shortcut F key to access profiles quickly. Of course the convenience key is also an option if you don't like the default two.

on the Curve pressing the "mute" key sends your device in stand by...
