Default SureType not working

Please Login to Remove!

I recently bought a BlackBerry 8300 curve after a long battle (that I lost) with several Windows Mobile-based devices.

Anyway, the reason for this post is that I am unable to get SureType to work. I have tries turning it on by holding down the '*' key but nothing happens. The input language set on my device is English (united States). Since I am on BES, should I request my Enterprise admin to do something to turn on this feature?

Thanks!

The 8300 has SureType? I thought that was for non full-QWERTY devices?

hmm.. so does the 8300 have any kind of predictive-text capability? Are there any third-party add-in's that I can download?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

There is no SureType on the 8300 because it has the full QWERTY keyboard. SureType is for BBs with the hybrid keyboard like the 71xx models and the Pearl.

I understand, however predictive text is always a great feature to have. Windows Mobile devices have this and I like the fact that he helps speed up the composition process.

Probably the closest you'll get on a full keyboard model is using AutoText. Doesn't predict words, but you can use shortcuts for words you type a lot.

For example, if you type a long company name a lot (Super Duper Huge Computer Company, Inc), you can create an AutoText entry so you only have to type a few letters (like the intials (SDH...) and then press space and the device will replace the letters will the full name.

I know it's not what you're looking for, but it can be used to help speed things up, too.

Default Any news for Suretype?

Does anybody know if any Programs for Predictive writing came out for the 8300?

I sometimes can write faster with my Motorola V3 phone than with the QUERTY 8300.

Thanks in advance and regards from Uruguay

There will be / is Predictive Text on OS v. 4.3.

You will have to wait for the OS upgrade.

The 8320 does not have SureType in any language. SureType is only on BlackBerry models 7100, 7105, 8100, 8110, 8120, and 8130.

Look at your BlackBerry - Options > About. Three lines down starts with "v.4.". What is the full number there... 4.????
