i don't see why it wouldn't, considering it would really have nothing to do with your wireless provider, vice your actual internet provider (or whoever elses is around, lol)

After using wifi on an AT&T 8525 for a short time the battery life was sucked up, does wifi suck up battery life on the 8320 too?

I got myself one of these 8320 but when I try to add applications through the desktop manager I keep getting an error message "No additional applications designed for your device were found". Anyone know what exactly that means and anyway to fix it?

I dont understand whats so nice about having wifi on the phone? the browser isnt THAT great, and for the ocassional use the GPRS is ok

I see it as a 'nice to have'

using wifi in a hotspot with a voucher payment is expensive. might as well use GPRS I think

I though hotspots were good for a laptop really

on my home wireless network I might as well use my laptop.

is there a secret Im missing out on?

What application was it that gave you this issue? Is the situation isolated to one application or all applications in general? How's the reception on the device, is it similar to the Curve or has it improved?

With every application. I think that the latest desktop manager doesn't fully support the 8320 yet. All app's except google maps that I installed ota worked fine.

The RF is pretty much the same as the 8300.

fr0zen,

Thanks for the pics.

Does the 8320 include internal GPS? What about the camera, is it included and any change in resolution from the 8300?

The 8320 does not have GPS built in, the 8310 does but the 8310 doesn't have wifi. The camera is the same as the 8300.

Other than what I mentioned above there were no flaws, it's just that I'm not really gonna make use of wifi that much on a BB and rather have the 8310 with GPS.

Thanks for replying so quickly. One other question. When you still had the 8320, were you able to check your BES/BIS emails using Wifi or is it mainly for browser use only? Because if it is just for browser use, then, just like you, I would rather get the 8310.

BES & BIS should work over WiFi. I few of my previous posts have cited documentation on RIMs public site - although a few not ALL were based on the 8820, most WiFi documents state that BIS & BES should work over WiFi.

HOWEVER! BES - Your admin will need to specifically set this up with specified Wireless Routers or existing ones that will allow for power efficient communication and also the IT Policy's will need to be enabled for WLAN. Its been in BES 4.01 and onward since. Good times ahead, Good times!

I am the BES admin for my company as well and I myself would have loved to try this out. Unfortunately i sold all the 8320's I had. Hopefully I can get one more for myself and then try this wifi over bes/bis.

No, it doesn't. Rogers did just launch the 8310 though, with in-built GPS.

I doubt Rogers will ever launch 8320... Rogers is just argh!
8320 = people get a choice not to use Rogers Data Service / Cut down on Data usage
8310 = Rogers keeps making more and more money

i hate rogers! grrrrr!!

Rogers SAME DAY UNLOCKING Service: $16 !!!
T-Mobile Unlocks: $24
AT&T / Cingular Unlocks: $14.99

The 8320 does have a camera, it's the 8820 with WiFi that doesn't.
