Default weird ringtone noise

Please Login to Remove!

so sometimes my ring tone is all messed up. i don't understand why. for example - i get a call today (the phone is in my pocket), i take it out and look who it is and suddenly my ring tone sounds terrible. it sounds like a speaker that cant handle a high volume. i don't understand why it does it, because it only happens sometimes so there is nothing wrong with the ring tone itself

help

Could the speaker be muffled or something that makes it sound odd?
I know the skin on my 8300 gives some of my ringtones an odd sound, and on my 8800, (also ATT), some of them are SUPER loud, sounding quite distorted.
