Default Curve keyboard stop working

Please Login to Remove!

Phone was working fine until yesterday after I plugged it in to charge. When I went to get it off the charger and the keybaord would not work. The phone was still powered on and the trackball would still allow you to scroll through all the icons but when you push down on the trackball or any other buttons it will not do anythings. The I got back to my house and plugged it in again into my Blackberry charger and when I would hit the back button it would go into phone mode. Then when I move the trackball all these O and U's come up. The it said it was doing a software reset.

Any suggestions here as to resetting the entire system? I have already done the battery pull a couple of times and that is not working. Is there any other tricks I should try before trying to get a warranty exchange?

Alex, you could try to wipe and reload the OS... look to the FAQ site for details. Often a battery pull while powered will do the job, I am sort of surprised it did not for you.

Good luck.

Possible a mechanical problem, if so, nothing will help except to repiar or replace.

I have to agree - these Curves really are trash. I sell these and we have had a very high rate of defects both brand new and after a few weeks of service.

I currently have 7 units in stock that the trackball select function does not work. The ball moves the cursur but you cannot select anything. These are brand new units so it is not a dust or dirt issue. Anyone else see this and what was the cure? Anyone have a number to get warranty service from RIM directly?

"Trash?" Mine works perfectly. As do the other 6 8320's that were launched for testing last week at my company. Education of the users by the sales reps is what is lacking most for BB implementation. I've got another 6 Pearls (same trackball) just in my small group at work as well and none have had any kind of trackball issues (other than the occasional piece of lint/dirt.)

RIM doesn't warranty the devices directly. They are warranted through the carriers.

No Trash here! The many Pearls and Curves I have are all excellent. Other than loosing one river rafting they are flawless.

My Curve has worked flawlessly so far and I'm very happy with it.
