tdawg00 is allowed to express his opinion, even though I totally disagree on all points

No Service Book problems.
No Provisioning problems.
Software is just fine.

And I've had an 8320 for a while...

I have resent my service books at least 17 times today, resent my register HRT 20 times, power cycled 30 times in the past 33 hours and if finally paid off

Now that i found it I can't install it ... because i get Handheld Software (v 4.2.2.171) but the 10mb version so i cannot install it to my laptop...i dont have a Installation Path: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files

bummer!!!

There is no "10Mb version." It's an error in your download. Keep trying until you get it. My guess is lots of people are downloading it.

How many themes are with the edited ALX file for 8320? Is it the same themes that came with the device? I think there are only like 3 or 4.

Thanks

There's already an update so soon after they put the 8320 for sale?

What's wrong with the OS on the phone right now?

To install this software on any 8320: (If you just purchased an 8320 from TMobile then you likely already have this OS on your device.)

1. Download and install the latest Desktop Manager from here

2. Download and install the OS packaged linked above.
3. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB, open Desktop Manager and you should be prompted to upgrade.

To add vendor themes here is the link to the edited .alx files for this OS. There are IM alx's included as they were in the same folder and vendor coded to TMobile. When the other carriers come out with the 8320 this may allow them to work on the other carries. (just a guess on my part-John Clark.)

Edited .alx's
Check the bold type.

I'm assuming that once the software is installed the procedure to get rid of unwanted themes and/or MyFaves would be the same?:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/medi...tml#post653037

I haven't installed the software on my PC as I have not received my 8320 yet.

Did anyone else have the strange half-deleted languages like I did? I might have missed that with the flurry of replies....just interested if I was a lone soldier with that issue.

Well, I installed the AIM and MSN ALX's into my Vodafone 8300 folder, and put their .COD files into the Java folder (I stole all the files from the T-Mob 8320 version)

When I entered Desktop Manager it gave me the option to "check" them. So I've got my fingers crossed for my 8300

that's great! Is there a master list, somewhere, that maps these file names to meaningful descriptions of what's in them? This would make it a lot easier to start selectively stripping them out and making out machines leaner and faster.

Please note: Even if you already have this OS on your device you'd want to go through T-Mo's upgrade. I already had this OS on my device but could not use App Loader via Desktop Manager's upgrade provided by T-Mo. Only after I upgraded the OS (seems redundant but do it) that I was able to use the most current Desktop and the App Loader.

That's great! I couldn't and only after an "upgrade" that it worked. I guess if you are having problems using the App Loader just do this upgrade anyway.

It's not really an upgrade. Rivvie posted about it here and tells how to take care of the "upgrade" box.
