Default Ports required for 8320 UMA? - 09-27-2007, 01:39 PM

Anyone know what ports need to be open for UMA? I can get on my corporate WLAN, and I can probably get them to configure VPN for me, but I'm suspecting that our corporate firewall will probably block UMA traffic.

Any thoughts?

The data services (not the UMA) are over port 443 (SSL) to rcp.na.blackberry.com. The UMA services connect to port 5400 and 4500 UDP directly to T-Mobile. It is worth noting that the data paths are completely independent of each other for UMA vs the other WiFi related data services.

Thanks for the reply. It's pretty clear to me now that this dog just ain't goin' to hunt, so I won't go through the trouble.

Thanks,

Is this even possible? I thought that somehow limited your ability to only use your "home router." Does anyone know how they accomplish this in technically?

Thanks,
Bradley

Prior to the current UMA outage I have used the UMA with great sucess at multiple locations that were NOT running T-Mobile specific routers. As long as you have an Internet connection which lets the UMA traffic pass through it will work fine.

UMA works fine, even if you are behind NAT, etc.

I was speaking with a RIM tech support representative yesterday and they specifically mentioned ports 500 and 4500 needing to be open for UMA

I figured out how to configure my Cisco Router at work to get this working. I had to add the following lines to my access list which is used on the external network side:

access-list 101 permit udp any eq isakmp any
access-list 101 permit udp any eq non500-isakmp any

I have an access list on the external network interface for:

ip access-group 101 in

Hope this helps somebody else get UMA working.
