What are the benefits of updated the software? Also, will this work with AT&T / Cingular Curve devices?

Default ATT 8310 OS Version

It ships with Version 4.2.2.170 / 2.5.0.30. I have not seen this appear on the ATT site yet. Just picked up my 8310 today (8/14/07).

I just traded the 8300 I got a few days ago for the 8310. I can't get my desktop manager to talk to it as of yet. I believe I need to install an 8310 OS to my desktop to get my desktop manager and bb on the same page. I can't seem to find a newer or equal version to what came on the device though.

Currently grabbing 4.2.2.163 . As mentioned above the device ships with 4.2.2.170 :/ .. I'm hoping to at least get them talking while looking/waiting for a later OS to show up.

I fear even if I get them talking, I won't be able to see all the core/system modules.

Hmm; I installed the 8310 software onto the pc that my desktopmanager software is on. It is connecting up fine, but when I run the apploader I am getting this error:

"The Blackberry desktop software does not have blackberry device software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

This shows up in place of where the core software and applications list should be.

Any ideas?

Why don't you use this version. Just follow the instructions in the first post. That's what everyone else is doing.

Thanks, I'd not see that version after a while of searching for some reason.
