I just called the store near me in Denver. The rep said she knew about the new curve, but no details. I mentioned that there were reports on line that some Corporate stores have them in stock. She said, "hmm, let me check."
After a few minutes on hold:
REP: "The computer says we have 8 of them on order, but no details. I don't know when we'd get them."
ME: "Okay, never hurts to ask."
REP: "It also says somethign about some red ones..."
ME: "Yeah, that's actually the one I want..."
REP: "Oh, those show as being 'in transit.' I'm guessing we'll have them in the store on Monday. Want me to give you a call?"

For those of us that already have a contract we have to wait. i can get it $200 cheaper than what let's talk is asking without a plan. Plus just exchanging my 8300 for it.

I, too, have been watching these 8310 release rumor threads for a couple of weeks in anticipation of the release. I am six months away from my contract expiring, but my AT&T Corp Rep agreed to override my contract and sell me the 8310 at the same price as new customers. I have been told that as soon as they arrive, he will be calling me. Therefore, letstalk.com and amazon.com are not options, and I will continue to monitor these posts for more information. Thanks to everyone that has provided info.

Number portability -
10-13-2007, 04:32 PM
I just ordered a new 8310 Titanium through Letstalk & was wondering how that # portability works? Will my current Sprint cell phone stop working once the # is ported (meaning before I even receive the 8310)? I need to have a cell at all times so that would suck if I have to wait a few days until I get the 8310.

When i went through them years ago I got the phone with a different phone number until my number was ported over. So you you should be ok, at least that was my experience.

This will be my first BB but I've been a Cingular/AT&T customer for over 7 years. But I'm not paying for the BB, my BF is (early Xmas present) so I have to wait until he has the extra money to do that (he's still paying for the laptop he got me for my birthday in August). He knows I'm impatient though and said we'll get me a new phone "very soon".

I told my ATT rep in the Chicago store that I wanted the 8310, but he didn't think they'd be in until the end of the month. So he told me about the 30 day exchange policy and I bought the 8300 instead because I really can't be without a pda for two weeks. He didn't seem to care in the slightest.

Does this confirm what I'm thinking about many of the folks in the AT&T retail chain?

Bb 8310 In Hand -
10-13-2007, 09:34 PM
I called the AT&T corp store down the street (Minneapolis, MN) and asked and he said they have a whole pile, all the stores here locally just got them yesterday in their shipment... they're not making a big ta-da about them since there really is no huge benefit for most people. Only red ones will be carried initially it seems... I got two... one for each line.
It's nice, but fingerprints like the black Pearls, dohh... i didn't miss fingerprints on the silver finish of the curve!

Crap. Maybe you were asking $899?
Still no 8310 here in Norcal land.
Anyway, I get bored today and just for fun, checked out Amazon. It is less than my AT&T store upgrade price ($25 or so after rebate). On the product page for the red, it says normally ships in 2 to 3 days, titanium says 1 to 4 WEEKS.
I'm thinking I can wait till next weekend, I want the red, I'll save some money, so why not? I actually go through the whole rigamarole of filling out all the online forms and all that and get to the VERY last screen where the "Purchase Now" button is.
I look over the screen, getting ready to commit, and see shipping estimated at some time in NOVEMBER! WTF???
I pull the plug, pick up the phone and call their cell customer service number. They're only open M-F, so I dropped them an email about the whole thing and asked them to call me.
It's very mis-leading having that "2 to 3 days" on the product page, and then bait and switch to the 3 to 4 week timeframe on the purchase page.
Anyone with similar experiences?

Yeah, that was my exact experience. I went to Amazon 5 minutes before I had to leave the house for work, saw they had the red 8310's with 2-3 day shipping, ordered that and a red Jawbone bluetooth headset then rushed out the door to work. On my break I checked my e-mail on my phone to make sure I got a confirmation e-mail from Amazon. As I slowly scrolled down, I saw an estimated delivery date for the Jawbone of 16-17 Oct (woo-hoo). I kept scrolling down to find the estimated delivery date of of the 8310 of anywhere between 5-7 November (WTF!!!). So when I got home I promptly signed on to Amazon and cancelled the order. It was thankfully quick and painless--since it was a weekend they hadn't even placed the authorization on my credit card yet, but I'll call on Monday just to verify. $99 was a great price, but not to wait a whole month.

so I called like 5 stores in my area...
one store: we probably won't be getting them until later in the month
second store: probably the 15th or 28th
what the heck!! I may as well wait until november when I pay my credit card bill again. how do store reps not know when they are going to receive a shipment? =(

Sorry, I'd like to see a real (not professional studio) photo of a red 8310 in hand. Especially after the fingerprint comments.

My understanding was that the 8310 was going to replace the 8300 and be offered for the same price given that the 8300 was being discontinued by AT&T ($449 minus $150 minus $100 = $199 with 2-year contract and $100 rebate)....

Not what my receipt says from my purchase yesterday from AT&T Corp store. $499 is the full retail price.
