Not that I work for at&t but I'm guessing COR is corporate stores and authorized resellers can start ordering them?

NEW Rumors? -
10-12-2007, 06:15 PM
OK. This is really getting old. I stopped by my local AT&T store and called a couple of others. The worst rumor came from my local store where they said they saw an email this morning that AT&T has postponed/cancelled the 8310 launch.
Can anyone confirm or refute this?
If this is true, I think I'll just pick up an 8300 and wait to see what happens in the next 30 days in my exchange period.

At the AT&T store I went to last night, the guys I talked to knew what I was talking about but said "We'll get them when we get them" which is fair enough. I'm just impatient! Well, my BF is paying for mine when I can upgrade in a couple weeks so I won't complain too much.
Oh and I did find this on AT&T's site today:
https://www.wireless.att.com/support...deviceId=10000

I was in the ATT store in Chicago this afternoon. They heard end of month but really weren't sure and didn't seem to know what they were talking about. My Treo 650 finally died a beyond resettable death this morning (my screen is blank with red, green, blue and white horizontal bars and the phrase "Bootload v 0.19") and I desperately need a replacement PDA.
While I have sadly ruled out the iPhone and decided on the Curve, I really don't want to get one of the last 8300s and TMobile is not an option. So I'm anxiously following this thread very closely.

Yeah. I posted that link on the other thread earlier today. I've also heard the "we'll get them when we get them" which actually makes the most sense to me.
I know I NEED a Blackberry now and I'm getting more impatient by the minute.
I think one of the lessons learned is that the most people at the AT&T retail store level really don't have a whole lot of insight as to what's really going on in the grand scheme of things.

The other thing to consider is what they told me in the ATT store last night. They said that some stores may not see them early because they may still have a certain amount of stock left of the current 8300 and would not receive them until they are gone. I also remember hearing a similar scenario when the 8820 was released. I still bought the 8300 last week knowing we were in range of launch.

So when I'm getting the "postponed/cancelled" message today, I'm thinking, ah, the heck with it, I'll just end the roller coaster ride and get the 8300 now although I really want the 8310, and exchange it within the 30 days when it comes out.
Which brings up a question. Obviously(?), if a phone's returned within 30 days, AT&T can't sell it again as new. So, is this what shows up as refurbished?
Also, knowing(?) that the 8310 is coming on Tuesday(?), is it ethical to indulge in the instant gratification of having a Curve in your hands, knowing that you're going to return it within the 30 days?
Just curious to what others think.

One thing to consider in this whole "buy now, swap later scenario" is that ATT has a 30 day return policy. They do not state why or why not a phone can be returned. When I bought the 8300 I made it perfectly clear what my intentions were, and they (more than one person was helping me) did not hesitate to point out the return policy would allow it. Imagine the level of problems it makes if there is no return policy, and the new version is released the next day.

Hey ya do what you have to! 30 day policy is great and works very well do keep in mind though that you only get one buyers remorse exchange!
I would do it if necessary!

ezrunner, agreed! The exchange is the least they can do for the mess up I had with service. Although a bit off topic, the rep typed in the wrong SS# which did not allow certain billing options to be available and has required me to spend several hours trying to get the problem straightened out. Everyone in the store was amazed that the application was actually approved. It is still not fixed and may still require me to go back to the store to completely return and re-purchase the phone. The rep guaranteed me that even if I am outside of my 30 days he will make sure I get my 8310.

Well, I think I'm going to hold out till Tuesday to see what happens.
The other thing that prevents me from running out and getting one today is getting it all set up and then having to swap it out and start all over again (not sure how big an issue that is though).

Newbie Question on Swapping -
10-12-2007, 08:31 PM
I have been waiting (like all) all week to get the 8310 as I am able to upgrade to the Curve from my 8700c and want to do it ASAP. My question is - if you setup the BB on a BES and then decide to return it, is it foolproof that if I wipe the hand held that ALL information and emails on the BB are erased and safe? I just do not want to get an 8300, activate it on my BES and then once the 8310 comes out I know I will want to return if within 30 days if there is a chance email/info is not totally erased. Any others been through this and can share stories of it working fine? If so, I will go out (finally) and get an 8300 for the time being as I want it ;)
Thanks

Let me guess. You're willing to let it go for a "reasonable" price? Like $899?
I think I'll wait for my $179 8310 on Tuesday.
