Default Desktop Organizer

Probably a dumb question for a new BB 8320 owner....but I can't figure out where or if there is a desktop organizer for my computer.

I'm coming off of a Treo 700P where I could enter all of my contact info on my computer then sync with the Treo. I assume it's similar with the BB but after loading what's on the CD, I can't find anything??

Actually, you are looking for some sort of Palm Desktop like software. There is none. Most people use Outlook on their PC, and sync it to the BB using the aforementioned Desktop Manager.

There is no software included with the BB to store and edit your contacts, calendar, notes and tasks.

I don't use Outlook....I guess I need to start. That's my only decent option?

I use Gmail for my email, and have been using Palm for my organizer/contacts. I'm "challenged" when it comes to Outlook, never used it.

It's a very commonly asked question by former Palm People.

Does Outlook work well for keeping contacts and a calendar if I don't use it at all for email? Or are they tied together in a way that's going to drive me crazy?

Absolutely. You do not need any e-mail accounts set up on Outlook to use the calendar, notes, tasks and contacts features.

You just manually sync the BB to Outlook and it will work fine. No e-mail required.

Picked up Outlook 2007. I like it...similar to the whole Palm thing but probably better. At least when I get used to it.

Anyone know of a board where I could ask simple Outlook questions?

Right now I'm trying to figure out two very simple things:

1. Add a second address. I see under "All fields" then "frequently used fields", it shows other addresses, but how do I get that onto my General contact page?

2. Same with the category "Contact" under "frequently used fields". It doesn't allow entry there, how do I add it so I can use it?
