Default help - "need network access" google maps error - 06-02-2007, 02:59 AM

Hi All,

Just got a new 8300 on AT&T. Downloaded and installed Google maps. When i click the icon, i get the following error:

Need Network Access

(QUIT)

The application cannot be used until you grant it permission to send and receive data over the network.

My other apps and data work fine. Things I've tried without success: (1) changing permissions in the Advanced Options-Applications, (2) re-booting, and (3) deleting and reinstalling Google Maps.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I had the same issue on my 8700. All is now working.

I get a "Netwok Unavailable" error on my BlackBerry. How do I fix this?

This error may be related to certain configurations on your BlackBerry. First, please make sure you have granted network access or permissions to Google Maps for mobile. In general, this means:
Accessing your mobile phone's list of downloads and/or applications and highlighting "Google Maps."
Selecting "Settings," "Options," or the like with "Google Maps" still highlighted.
Selecting "Network access" or "Network permissions," depending on your phone.
Changing "Ask every time" to "Ask first time" for Network access, or "Allow once" to "Always allow" for Network permissions.
Saving your changes.
Next, if you have "IPPP for 5 Click (IPPP)" or "E-mail set up [IPPP]" entries in your Service Book, you'll need to correct your network configuration. To do so, please follow these steps:

Access Options > Service Book or Tools > Settings > Service Book on your device.
Delete the entry "IPPP for 5 Click (IPPP)" or "E-mail set up [IPPP]."
Access Options > Host Routing Table or Tools > Settings > Host Routing Table.
Click "Register Now."
This shouldn't affect other applications on your BlackBerry.

We also recommend contacting your mobile service provider to confirm that you have the latest web browser and BlackBerry OS versions that are currently available.

Thanks Jeffc. Hasn't resolved the problem yet, but my device slightly differs from the instruction:

+ I deleted "IPPP for 5 Click"
+ I don't have "E-email set up (IPPP)"
+ I do have "IPPP for BIBS (IPPP)"...should I delete that?
+ I do have "Browser Config for 5 Click"...should I delete that?

Also, when I enter the host routing table, there's multiple entries that look like "Cingular [3102****]", does it matter where/when i instruct to "register now"?

Thanks!
