Probably not, but maybe the OS that you're using is similar to one that there is a bbm 5 for and you can be the "test subject" for the 8520.

I just downloaded the OTA BBM 5.0 for the 4.6.1 / Javelin and it seems to be working fine on my 8520 running .274

I've done the same, it works a treat. Some good features added like group chat and the ability to send the same message to multiple contacts

Yes. You've posted in a six week old thread. BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 is now out there. A couple of threads on it.
