Default Data Plan Question - 10-18-2009, 02:21 AM

For you T-Mobile users,

I currently have the Curve 8310 that is an unlocked AT&T blackberry that I received from a friend. I enjoy using it but do not need a data plan. I like the phone and since I have unlimited texting on my T-Mobile plan, I simply forward my email as a text message.

Thq question I have is, I recently purchased a brand new curve 8520 on ebay for T-Mobile. I see that on T-Mobile's site, in order to buy a blackberry, it says that a blackberry service plan is required. I asked the owner of the ebay store that I purchased the phone from, and he told me that it should work with just my T-Mobile plan. Is that right? I thought that it should work? But just want to make sure. I also have a blackberry flip that I stopped using which is a tmobile phone. Would you guys recommend that I pop the sim card into it and see if the phone works without the data plan?

Just hoping my new 8520 will work. What do you all think?

yes, it will still work for calls/texting as the poster above said.

i also believe you can still use the wifi connection to connect to the web as well w/o the data plan.
