Arrow Frustrated about wifi/data plan on this phone - 10-19-2009, 03:40 PM

Ok, so prior to upgrading to the 8520, I owned an 8320. I was able to surf the web via wifi, via blackberry browser.

I just received my new 8520 and am extremely frustrated with thte fact that I don't have a blackberry browser option and tmobile has only made web2go available, which requires me to purchase a data plan from them.

I just want to surf the web when i'm in wifi areas. I tried configuring it to "hotspot" instead of web2go, it did nothing. I keep getting a page asking me to subscribe to the data plan service. I don't want tp hear people telling me oh how cheap a data plan is and oh how I should just get one because blah blah blah. No. When there is an open wifi connection, I should be able to use it with my wifi enabled phone without having to pay an extra $20-$40/mo.

So if there is a way to bypass this data plan block, please let me know.

You didn't need to post a new thread.
I've answered this in the other thread

I have both Opera Mini and Bolt browsers on my phone and i find the Bolt browser the easiest and quickest. Still holding out for Skyfire whenever that comes out...

Might also be worth a go to update the OS version on your device - i had a few niggles with Wi-Fi when i first switched it on yet after a software update all is well!

Had: 8700g, 9000, 8220, 9500, 8110
Have: 8520 Curve

In that order! Missing 3G
