I have loaded this and works great - except for the fact that when others change their display pics it does not change on my side. What could be wrong?

Have you loaded custom pics into your contacts in BBM? If so, you will need to go to each contact and decide if you want to display your custom picture or their pushed picture.
no have loaded none - i have chosen the option to have their display pic showing - but not seeing the changes they make - what i do see is their facebook pic but i haven't linked it up like that. i then removed facebook link even.

Hm... that last bit was from memory. I have uninstalled BBM 5 so I can't offer any additional suggestions. Hopefully someone that is using BBM 5 will come along.
To workaround this issue, and view contacts avatar:
1. On the Home screen or in the Instant Messaging folder, click the BlackBerry Messenger icon.
2. Highlight the affected user.
3. On the contact list screen, press the Menu key.
4. Select Delete Contact.
5. To add the contact again, invite them by using scan a barcode or by email.
Note: User will have to accept request to be added again
