Default Issues with 8520? - 10-25-2009, 02:41 PM

Anyone had similar issues of restarting, freezing and general failure of response from their BlackBerry 8520? I'm not liking this phone and I'm just trying to establish if I've made the wrong decision.

Thanks.

No problems like that for me... nothing but rock solid and speedy! Maybe you got a lemon, can you exchange it for another?

This is my second one already. I got it yesterday and the 'y' was failing to respond when I pressed it. I only owned it for an hour and it went tits up! I am taking it back tomorrow and exchanging it for another phone, if I can get around Carphone Warehouse to pull their finger out.

No problem here, and in fact, I find this device to be superior to the 8320 I had last year.
I'd say you got a bad device.

Makes sense to me.

I can cause a delay in response in mine. It appears when I try to switch sites in the browser wheh the first page hasn't loaded fully.

Memories of my BlackBerry Bold come flooding back (apart from the dicky Y button)

What i'd do is try updating the software on the phone with the most recent version posted at the top of this section of the forum - i had a problem with my Curve where Wi-Fi wouldn't communicate with my Router. One software update later and everything runs like s*** off the proverbial shovel

If the unresponsive Y button is still misbehaving after the software update then yes i would suspect faulty hardware and to get the retailer/supplier to exchange it for you

Had: 8700g, 9000, 8220, 9500, 8110
Have: 8520 Curve

In that order! Missing 3G
