ive had my blackberry 8520 for about 5 weeks so not overally familiar with it. ive only just got my data plan from O2 about 10 mins ago now what i was wondering is will my phone constantly use data even if im not actually using the phone as the wifi symbol is always on the phone (wi is now white rather than grey when i was just using my home internet). i just dont want my data going well over my usage (altho they say its unlimited they only give a certain amount of data :( )

if it is constantly using data how do i turn it off.

also what are the differences between:
hotspot browser
&
Internet browser.

i was told by network to use the BB connection otherwise i will be using my wap which i would get charged for. i opened the browser>hit menu key> selected start BB connection is this right? (this is when the wi went right rather than staying grey)

any advice would be appreciated

If you are connected to wi-fi, you are NOT using your "unlimited" data.

Hotspot = uses wi-fi only
internet = will use wi-fi when on and available, data connection via mobile network when wi-fi is not on or available

I don't remember that being an option at all....however, you will never use WAP unless you change the default browser (options - advanced - browser - the top option) to O2 Active. That is the WAP browser.
As long as your browser is set to hotspot or internet as default (under the above menu option) you will never use WAP.

hi the only option that is set to O2 active is the WAP option the other 2 options are set to hotspot and internet.....i think the default one is set to hotspot which i wanted as im mainlt at home anyway and just need the data for when im out and about.....
