Hi There, My BB Curve 8520 always thinks a headset is connected when it is not, i have to remove battery and replace several times a day. It works ok for an hour or two then i have to re do it all again other wise i cant hear through the handset when making or receiving calls. the headset symbol appears at the top left of my home screen when this happens. it is becoming very annoying. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Sure sounds like the old curse of the Treos. They had a poorly designed headphone jack that would fail and the device would indicate a headset was plugged in even when it was not. When it first started some success was obtained by plugging and unplugging the headset jack a few times, but as it got older it became worse until it failed.

I can't say I have seen this about any BBs so maybe it is a fluke or just a defective unit. Hopefully others may have more experience.

I would suggest you check with your provider about a replacement, hopefully under warranty.

Many thanks for your reply. I have just contacted Orange Customer Services and they are sending me out a new phone tomorrow morning. The woman I spoke to knew about the fault before I had time to explain it fully. Obviously not something new to her!!

It's not usual, but it happenes.

I too had the same problem, because i used to listen music a lot, and in one month i screwed the jack up : ). It's not THAT sensitive but rumbling in pockets with pencils, keys etc. it gets 2 much stress and that happenes.

I didn't replace my phone because I stopped using media player intencively ( no time ) so it's all fine now ( switching to speaker works fine, that's what's important... )

Just my point of view glad you solved it anyways : )
