Are you installing the OS version 5 automatically with desktop manager, or what?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?

I repeat: How are you trying to install? Automatically with desktop manager over the internet? Or did you download and install the OS from your carrier? Or from another carrier? What?

my bad. trying to through desktop manager. and no i don't have a data plan.

Do a search. Strictly speaking a data plan is required to upgrade to 5. There is a work around that you will find when you search.

i have downloaded 5.0 but it won't do nothing. and i don;t need a data plan.

You may not need a data plan, but you will not upgrade to OS 5 without one unless you find the work around instruction and follow it.
