Default Curve 8530 vs. Curve 3G

I own a Curve 8530 and love it. I know my phone is a 3G phone. Now I see a BlackBerry Curve 3G, NOT 8500 or 8300 or 8200 or any series #. Just Curve 3G. What is the difference? I am confused and cannot determine the differences in these phones.

The 9300 is GSM. Won't work on Sprint.
