8520 refuses to update
After following the instructions in I get one of two errors:

1) When I go to loader.exe it just says "The BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator." I followed instructions exactly.

2) If I try to update via latest BlackBerry Desktop Software by going to Device-> Update my device-> View other versions and select the OS 5 it says I have to subscribe to a data plan to continue.

I am on T-Mobile with a white 8520 on unlimited talk/text only. Help please?

Looks like you need a BB data plan.

Are you following the instructions in the yellow sticky at the top of the 8500 section? Delete the vendor.xml? Install the OS on your PC?

Yes, I successfully deleted vendor.xml. If subscribing to the $30 bb data plan is the only way to update then my curve will probably stay on 4.6.
