Just updated my phone software to OS v5.0.0.822. None of my notifications/ringtones are working. I am sure that all of my sound settings are on loud. Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Hard restart your mobile phone by pulling the battery while he is on, wait for around 30 sec and put it back and w8 till it boots, had the same problem and that solved it ( actually it hapened twice in a few months now that i think about it... )

I also had this problem! I bought my 8520 last week, when i tryed to set a mp3 file as a ringtone, the device just "died" like fusion252 said.

I went to the store, they gave me a new bb and never had the problem again. But now that you speak in notifications/ringtones... i noticed that my SMS's notification is not the tone i set up... whhyyy

I had this problem as well. Once the update was installed- my call ringtone, sms/email notification, and alarm clock went silent. I researched a little and found this lame explanation from RIM: KB24307-Ringtones and alerts do not play regardless of the tune or volume setting

Weak...totally.

Anyway, a battery pull seems to have temporarily remedied the situation for me, but I'm having more and more problems with this so-called "smart phone" than I need to deal with, so I'll be migrating to a different device soon.

My 8520 has the same problem when I am browsing the ringtones and trying to listen for which one I want. The old "battery pull" has become a good friend of mine. It's the only solution I've found.
