Default Email problem

Hi I recently bought a BlackBerry Curve 8520. I have an annoying problem with the email. I have it set up to work with my university email account via IMAP (my University offers IMAP or MS Exchange but not BES). This works well except for one thing. If I read or delete an email using my PC this change does not come through on the BlackBerry (so emails still marked as unread, and deleted one still on the phone). If I read or delete using the BlackBerry the changes do show up in Outlook when I log on with Outlook (2010) on my PC. Is there anyway to fix this? I did not have this problem with my old phone (Nokia N95).

If you download email to Outlook on your PC, then it cannot be shown as read or deleted if and when you read/delete on the BB. The BB interacts with mail on your server, not the PC client.

If you read/delete mail using the BB before it is downloaded to your PC/Outlook, then it should show up as either read when you download to Outlook. Deleted messages should not appear.

Hi, my Outlook is set up as IMAP, not POP, it keeps synched with the server, so when I read an email, it is marked as read on the server, if I delete an email it is deleted from the server as well as from the PC. For some reason the BlackBerry is not picking up these changes in the way my previous phones did. Also (may be related) the BlackBerry only ever downloaded emails that arrived after I set it up, it would not access older emails still on the server (again behaviour different to any other phone or for that matter installation of email client software such as Thunderbird or Outlook on a PC). It seems there is no solution to this problem Despite supposedly being the email phone the BlackBerry only supports full synchronization from phone to server and not the other way when set up with BIS for IMAP accounts!

Really disapointed by this. I will not be getting another BlackBerry that's for sure!
