I've just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8520 on a pay as you go Orange package and I'm trying to log on to the blackberry home page from my phone but it keeps saying this requires wifi access. On my old phone it just logged on to the mobile web, but I'm not getting an alternative access option with this. What do I need to do?

The browser is set to Hotspot, which only uses wi-fi.
You need to change it in Options - advanced - browser config - top option.

If there is no other option to change it to, you don't have a blackberry data plan, and you cannot surf over carrier network.

I was unaware that i needed a blackberry data plan. I'll have to go to the carphone warehouse and orange stores and play stupid which, in this instant, won't be hard

Hi, I have a the same problem with my BB curve 8520. The only option that is available in the options-advanced options-browser config menu is hotspot browser. All other options are absent. I have a running BIS package from my network provider and my blackberry messenger works perfectly.

Everytime I try to browse using the bb browser in an area with no wifi, I get the message: "no active wifi connection" whereas I do not have the option of any other connection apart from wifi.

I will be super grateful if anyone can help out. Thanks in aticipation.
