I downloaded the new OS like the sticky says for a buddies 8530 on the Sasktel Network, and are having big problems. He doesnt have any more contacts, no bbm contacts, no pictures, etc. It is the Package Version: 5.0.0.1493. Since there was a problem, i wanted to run the loaderbackup but have no idea how to do so. It mention going to desktop manager>backup/restore tool but I dont know where that is.

If you didn't create a backup BEFORE updating, it won't matter.

It did create a backup file. Its a loaderbackup-1.idp file. I just dont know what to do with it.

Open desktop manager
plug in the blackberry.
go to backup/restore icon
then restore
click browse and point it to the backup.ipd.
Click next etc till it restores it.

yes, ironically its the same software you use to upgrade the blackberry.

Wouldnt touch desk top manager with a barge pole, it seems to cause loads of problems for people, conect phone to computer and go to my computer, click on removable disc and work from there.
