Anyone know where I can grab OS ver 4.1.0.377? It's no longer on Verizon's site.
I'd like to know that I have the old software - just in case 4.2 isn't all it's cracked up to be.
BB Devices I've owned: 957 : 7750 : 7250 : 8703e
BES 4.1.3

I've received 3 missed calls and the icon/indicator for that will not dissappear now. I've rebooted, pulled the battery, I'm not sure how to get his off and its really kind of annoying. Anyone else have this?

Have you checked to see if there are messages in the SMS Inbox?

Yea, no messages. Other than the message of a missed call, which the indicator for the messsage would not dissappear either until I did the reboot. I dont even make/receive calls with it anyway, its stray wrong calls that people have dialed.

For Dawg and others... My latest observations on 4.2 -
10-31-2007, 02:45 PM
I hear ya. I whined and moaned about certain aspects of 4.2 that I believe are problematic. But in fairness to you and other folks, I must admit that I didn't give some of the new features a fair shake.
So, on the advice of others here on the forum, I've loaded the BB Dimension Zen theme, which does indeed display ALL the icons for ALL the applications. And with this theme, I can loaded any photograph for the background, which does offer much greater flexibility for color contrasting, readability, etc.
I also like the colors utilized in the message screens while sorting emails, etc. Easier to differentiate things...
Some other observations:
1. With the BB Dimension Zen theme, the battery level indicator now shows full when it should show full (unlike the Verizon theme I mentioned in my previous post).
2. Also with the Zen theme, the main homepage displays icons and status for each messaging account, plus one applications icon, which takes you to the main applications screen, where ALL the icons now reside (like 4.1). Simple, clean display of just the important stuff.
2. The device is still sluggish. The new 4.2 OS puts a hurtin' on the ol' 8703e.
3. A few of the 4.1 ringtones, alarm tones and notifier tones are gone, including the tone I had been using for email alerts, etc. These have been replaced by some new tones. I had to go through all my Profiles settings and redo the tones. (I wish there was a "universal" tone feature)
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I feel better about 4.2 now, and I'm dealing with the changes. At this juncture, I'm leaning towards keeping 4.2. Besides, I'll be upgrading to a new device sometime in the not-too-distant future. I'm just waiting for the "right" new device to be released (probably next Spring).

There's no way to update/reinstall any OS on any BB with a mac unless you can run something like bootcamp or parallels. Find a friends PC.

I also notice useing the 4.2 OS that the screen flashes "like a quick flash of light" in some applications like Ygo. When i scroll through the icons a flash of light each time. Other than that Ive had no problems. Just wish there was voice notes.

I'm torn. I just got my 8703e to where I like it. If I do a backup and then install 4.2, will a restore get me back to 4.1 if I don't like it? This might sound silly... but being that it is an OS upgrade, I want to make sure before I move forward.
Was it worth it?
Thanks!

Gotcha. I did a search on "rollback OS" and found the information to do this. Thank you for the quick response!

One issue I am having is when I receive a long email and scroll using the space bar, when I get to the more notice (I have auto more turned on) and more of the message loads, I am returned to the top of the message and have to scroll all the way to where the more message was to continue reading. If I use the wheel this issue does not present itstelf.

has anyone run into issues with the keyboard lock function in version 4.2? i downloaded it onto my verizon 8703e and now when i keyboard lock (not password lock, just the standard keyboard lock icon) and try to unlock with the scrollwheel, i scroll to 'unlock' and click it, and it immediately goes to the 'keyboard locked, you must press * + send to unlock' - what happened to this function and how can i fix it? is anyone else running into this issue?
