Question Desktop Manager Wants to Delete 3rd PArty Applications - 12-18-2007, 09:15 AM

I wanted to add the beamberry software to my blackberry via desktop manager. I started to and something locked up. I disconnected the phone even though it said it was still connected to the computer.

I went to re-try - and desktop manager wants to delete all 3rd party apps. they don't show in desktop manager any more, but it wants to remove when i want to proceed with adding beamberry.

I didn't proceed. Checked the application list on the blackberry itself, and it shows nothing except the blackberry main operating software... doesn't even show blackberry loaded apps (notebook, pass keeper, etc.)

Anyone know how to get them back to show up. All programs i had (blackberry loaded, and 3rd party apps) are still on the blackberry and operational?

Confused

Dan

Sounds like you removed (or moved) them on your PC. Desktop Manager looks for the third party apps on the Desktop, and if they are not there, it wants to remove them from the BlackBerry itself.

Most apps were downloaded on blackberry handheld (yahoo messenger, sodoku, spider solitare, viigo). Beamberry was the only one i tried adding after downloading it on the desktop. I have added programs via desktop manager before so it's weird.

You should have done a backup first, and then it would have had everything.

i did a backup previously (several weeks prior). But i did some major address book changes. Boo on me for not syncing after the address book changes, but i'm at this point now, and was wondering if anyone else has dealt with this.

I'm ok now cause the programs are still on the blackberry, but once i go to add a programe through desktop manager, i will be in trouble.

What version of the Desktop Manager are you using? Sounds like you have an older version. Upgrade to 4.2 SP2 and it will pickup your 3rd party apps.

@Dandun: You'll need to change your avatar as one of our moderators (jibi) is using it and he insists that others don't use it.

Default reinstall desktop manager? - 12-26-2007, 03:19 PM

Would a re-install of desktop manager work? remove old, and re-install same version?

You're using the version of Desktop Manager I suggested above? 4.2 SP2? I don't have any trouble with DM picking up my 3rd party apps.

I am using what is listed above. Originally i did not have an issue, and everything showed up. Then one day, they didn't. I don't know what happened. If i try to load anything through desktop manager now, it wants to delete all third party apps. I odn't want to do that. Id prefer not to format and reinstall all of the as well
