Hi all. I have a 8703e on Verizon, and love how the screen looks when I quickly push the power button - it lights up brighter than can be, but I find myself doing this dozens of time per day, and despite playing with the options in the screen settings, I can't seem to get it to stay this bright by default.

Any ideas? It almost seems that my preferences set in the 'screen/keyboard' options menu mean nothing - my screen is very dim most of the time and I have no need to save battery life. I want that puppy bright!!!

The 8700 has a sensor that adjusts the display according to the ambient light level. I don't know the exact answer to your question, but that may be a clue.

ahhh maybe i gotta look into how to turn that off. that definitely explains why sometimes its near-100% and othertimes looks like it in some sort of battery-save mode.
