Default backup and restore durning updating - 02-10-2008, 05:18 PM

I updated my os to 4.2 and it said it was backing up the data on my bb but now that the new os is on i cant find the backed up data anywhere. any suggestions as to what i can do to retrieve it.

Any backup will have the file type as *.ipd.

Search for that on your PC, and routinely they are saved with that day's date in the file name... unless you changed it.

If you have successfully backed up your device with a new OS, you need to create a new backup that is compatible. Test everything and then run the Backup applet in the Desktop Manager. Whenever you do any major software operation (this includes your PC) you should back up before, do the operation, test and then backup the new configuration. I only save my last 2 backups. Anything older is generally a waste of space. Consider how much your BB changes on an ongoing basis. Is a 2 month old backup really of any value? 73
