what is your network coverage like for data? are you getting EDGE or edge (or possibly GPRS/gprs or GSM/gsm?) have you tried a battery pull?

Lightbulb Dump the Google Software - 02-11-2008, 07:24 PM

I use the BB e-mail client for gmail. It works perfectly for both of my accounts. The Google software can be problematic. Why bother. Get a consistent interface for all your e-mail. You will also save memory space by eliminating a useless application. . 73

I had the same problem. I could browse the net, receive calls but kept getting the same error message with gmail.

To resolve,

1) Install Gmail application and set to Allow instead of Custom (use the option to change the permissions and set to Allow. You only need to change the permissions for the Gmail application not the rest)
2) Ring your service provider and make sure your Blackberry is registered on their network
3) Get your service provider to send the Service books. This is key because a Blackberry works differently to other cell phones. The Service book actually configure the Blackberry device for the network and as such allows the Gmail application to correctly interface with your phone. If you know how, you can also do this through your service providers website, by clicking on the send service books option.

If this still fails to work, I would reccomend you delete the service books on your BB through options and then resend the service books.

Good luck
