Default white screen... - 02-11-2008, 11:34 AM

any1 experience this problem before? we have a user who has the 8700 and it just happen today..the text would fade away to a white screen. similar to the white screen when you boot up except no hour glass for this one. he tried the battery pull a million time...still have the problem. make sure the sim card is secure and same problem. he said the battery is fully charge, but i told him to try another spare battery this time. so what happen if this problems come back? please let us know. thx in advance,

dont know...but how do i tell? we make user pay for their bb if they broke it and it is their fault. so even if i asked i dont think they will be telling me the truth.

Remove the battery and check to see if the square white water-indicator sticker is now pink/red.
(The sticker is on the BlackBerry itself... not the battery.)

i may him take out the sim card and it worked for 5 minutes. now he is using a spare battery...haven't heard from him yet if the problem came back.

I agree that you need to verify if the unit has gotten wet. When you lift the battery cover, there is a small white square on the very lower left side, just to the left of the latch. If you pull the battery and look along the bottom vertical wall of the battery well there is another white patch. If either of these is anything other than white, the unit has been wet.

If this is the case, and it were my unit to fix, I would reload the operating system. If this does not work, it is probably a hardware problem. 73
