Default Messaging Question - 02-13-2008, 08:54 AM

I'm on a BB 8700g (t-mobile), not on a BES - my question is: How can I get free messaging - aim? The messenger that comes with the phone - OZ Messenger- absolutely sucks. I called a TM rep and they said that each message that I send and receive counts as an SMS. So again, how do I get free messaging? Also, any tips on where I can find a guide to maximize the use of my internet/messaging/phone? Much thanks! Stay dry! (i'm in ny)

Do you have a blackberry data plan? Take a look at jivetalk. Many here recommend it.

JiveTalk is the best I know of.

I am awaiting some user critique of Web Messenger, which used to rule the BlackBerry IM world, and has recently gone free of charge. It uses your data plan.

JiveTalk is good. It operates on data, and if you have an unlimited data plan, it costs nothing more than the plan you are paying for.

It uses data. Thus, you will need data service, and any data charges will depend on your plan. If you have unlimited data, then no worries.

How is the connection on JiveTalk - I'm using webmessnger and having a hard time logging on - I use the wap.voicestream.com APN and their server (login.webmessenger.com ; port 443) Suggestions?! Thanks for the great replies!

But if jivetalk is better, then great! time to cancel the unlimited SMS! That's 20 dollars saved!

I don't use it myself, but I don't IM much. But like I said, that's what just about everyone here recommends. A quick search on jivetalk and you'll see.

I never have an issue with JT connecting to their servers.

They have a free trial, it is worth it just to see the comparison.

I will definitely give jivetalk a trial run, I think anything is better than the crappy service I'm getting from webmessenger (as the saying goes, you get what you pay for...)

Thanks for all the support all, you guys are phenomenal!

Any suggestions on tweaking the bb? program recommendations? internet tweeking? Weird question - how much is unlimited data - I believe I'm being charged 19/mo - I'm located in NY, NY.

Thanks much.

On TMo, unlimited is stil unlimited. Your 19/month is the best deal out there for now. $24.99 on AT&T.

Although on AT&T, I have been told they are limiting their "unlimited" to 5gb a month.

The best tweaks for the BB I can attest to are these...
