Question No EVDO (Sprint 8703) - 02-17-2008, 11:58 AM

Hi -

I am looking for ideas: I recently had to swap out my old 8703 (which stopped working) for a new one ... after I left the Sprint store with the new phone in hand, I noticed that I wasn't getting any 1X EV signals like I normally did. This persisted and, after hours on the phone with Sprint support and a friend's 8703 (sprint) in hand, I still see 1X where the other phone is getting 1X EV (I even traveled more than 50 miles side-by-side and mine won't get EV for more than a second).

Now tech support resent the service books; they did a hard reset (##+some number that cleared my device) and they don't have an answer. They say I have to take it back in again to have a Sprint store diagnose it. They don't know what is wrong. This is a pain.

I even tried upgrading the operating system. No luck.

Has anyone had similar problems and found a solution ? Or is the solution I just gotta take it back ?

Thanks,
Damon

Hi - thanks for a quick response. Yes wireless works -- I have a data connection (PIN, email, browser, even bb-as-modem) ... however, I am stuck in 1X and can't move up to 1X EV ... even though the same model phone, same plan, side-by-side, can.

I went through this with their tech support for about 2 weeks. I finally got someone who knew what the problem was. Give them a call back, and have them check to see how your data provisioning is set up. There was something they had to "CHECK" and after pulling the battery, waiting 30 seconds and then putting it back in, when the device came back up, I was able to get the 1XEV coverage.
