Default 8703e Upgrade Affected Battery ??? - 02-21-2008, 09:28 AM

Hi, I first formatted my blackberry - then upgraded my software to v4.2.1.106 - and ever since I did that, the battery won't charge past 3 of 4 bars. I'm not sure if 3 bars = 100%, or if it's stuck at 75%. Verizon sent me a replacement phone, that didn't fix the problem. And I tried a new battery and still the same issue, which leads me to think it was the reformatting/update. Any ideas? Verizon is of no help. Thank you!

Mike

the new device, did you also update the software on that one? if so, just back the device down to the previous OS and you should be fine. sounds like it is just a display issue in the battery icon. you can also try changing themes and see if it shows full in another theme. welcome to the forums

AHA...look at my post right above or below yours...I have the same issue and started out thinking it was a charger issue...so you are not crazy..nor am I...I have the same problem....3 of 4 bars...very strange...i was heading to Verizon but you say they can do nothing? This was right after I upgraded to the new OS as well...problem is I do not have the old OS..only the old desktop software not the device old OS...don't know where you get that?

go to the VZW page and blackberry support section. they have the latest VZW OS there, which is not as new as the current one. BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ.com
or go there

then it is a theme issue and not the device issue. basically no need to downgrade the OS unless you really want that theme. try changing the theme back to see if it displays properly

Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

and it should load fine

I did change the theme and it did not correct itself. I am going to assume the verizon theme does not play well with the latest blackberry update...on THERE website. Funny....there theme and the latest OS on their website....presents a problem. Preferred that them though but this works.....just a stickler for details an I cannot have a full battery showing 3 of 4 bars.

Hi to all.
I did the same upgrate and the Verizon theme has the wrong bars indicating that a full battery has 3 bars only.
If any one found a solution please let me Know.
Thanks
Peter
