Default Won't turn on - 02-21-2008, 05:12 PM

I recently purchased a Blackberry 8700c and it won't turn on. I hooked it up to charge with the wall charger and the red light comes on for a few seconds and then the screen lights up and the battery charging symbol shows up for a few seconds before the screen goes dark and the battery charging symbol slowly fades away.

It has been hooked up for some time and the phone doesn't power on at all. Is this a problem with the battery, the phone itself, or the charger?

Thanks for your help in advance.

What is the total time on the charger? I would give it an hour or two. Was the device working after your received it or is this the first time?

I literally got it this morning so this is the first time I've tried to use it. It's been more than an hour or two. It seemed like I might just need a new battery but I'm not sure.

I had a similar problem and it was the battery, I would ask a friend to borrow their battery to see if thats the culprit.

That's a good idea. I'll definitely have to try that. Still open to suggestions though.

try charging it from a computer with the USB cable. it is possible the existing charger can be defective. also, remove the battery and place it back in the device then try and charge again.

Tried pulling the battery out to no avail. I would need to install the desktop software to charge from a computer correct?
