Exclamation 2 minor problems with BB 8703e(sprint) - 02-22-2008, 06:11 PM

Hello every one, i just got my blackberry as a gift, and turned my treo into a moving target. My main problem is with the clickwheel , it did it when it was on 4.1 and still does it with 4.2, just not as severe. I'll go to move it one icon over, and it'll skip sometimes 2 or 3 icons, or go directly to the first or last icon depending on my starting point. my 2nd problem is i bought an extra battery for it, well when i put it in my bb i get the flashing redlight and a battery icon with a "Z" looking thing in the middle. Thanks Any help is greatly appreciated!

Don't know about the battery. Is it OEM and correct for your model, or aftermarket battery?

On the scrolling, do you see that behavior when scrolling in messages or web pages? Is it all the time, erratic, or is good for a while and then starts? I would say do a hard reset when it starts happening. But if it is all the time or erratic, than maybe wheel faulty.

the first thing i did was a hard reset. And yes it does it all the time in every menu/message etc some times it'll work fine, but most of the time it messes up, more of an annoyance then anything. it is an OEM CS2 battery.

Sounds like track wheel issue. I believe I saw some advice on something like this just recently involving using canned air to try and blow out any debris. Some dissassembly may be required. I'm not the one to advise here, though. Maybe someone else will point you in the right direction. In the meantime, search and see http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Main_Page for disassembly instructions if your are inclined.

On battery, if blackberry is working fine with the other battery, then sounds to me like bad battery. I'm assuming the problem battery does not charge?

See what others say about the battery. As long as it is not getting hot, I see no problem waiting a while to see if it will charge.

Well no one here has a t6 driver so i ordered a set on ebay. And I'll use an air compressor to blow every thing out because they only sell the crappy cans of compressed air that expel more condensation then air

I would not be so cavalier about using an air compressor. Unless they are specifically filtered, you will get oil and water from them. You are much better with canned air in spite of what you think. You can get cans of certified clean canned air from professional photography suppliers. I do agree that the ones that are sold at Radio Shack, etc are questionable. I have optical grade canned air in my shop and it is perfect.

As far as your trackwheel problem, I agree with AIHarknesss. There is probably dirt in the trackwheel assembly. There is a small possibility that it is a software problem. You may want to try a fresh reload of the OS. Back up your data nd then wipe the BB first. 73

Go to a good camera store and buy whatever they sell. That's all there is. 73
