Welcome Camelia. Your questions are good, answered in the forum in varuos places.
1. A 8700 is an 8700. Options > About if you are not sure.
2. You can't.
3. Several threads in our Aftermarket Section list "hot" and "must have" applications for the BlackBerry
4. Favoritism of Themes is all personal opinion.
5. Here in Aftermarket section and in our FAQ you'll find some great lists of games. http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Main_Page

Most application have a desktop install version. You can download that to the PC then use Desktop Manager to install it on the BlackBerry.

welcome to the forums. what x14 said is correct. most applications can be downloaded to the PC first and installed through Desktop Manager. That being said without a data plan the phone is limited greatly in what it can do. check the second link in my signature Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ.com and look for entries regarding Generic data plan, and what do i need a data plan for

You can't use your PC's internet connection for an internet connection to your BB.
