Default 8700g Suncom Unlocked - But Not Working - 04-04-2008, 02:04 PM

Hi all - I just received an unlocked 8700g that was formally a Suncom branded BB. It recognizes my T-Mobile SIM, it seems to register on the network (I get GSM and 4 bars), but I cannot make or receive calls. I tried to register the IMEI with T-Mobile and send the service books, but it appears the phone is not actually registering on the network! I've already wiped it clean and re-installed the OS from BB. This didn't help, same result.

I need help! Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have a BB Data Plan? You can't send service book with a BIS account.

Thanks for the responses. 1) I do have a BB data plan with T-mobile for many years now, everything works as expected with my T-mobile branded BB (that got wet so the screen looks bad, but still usable) When I purchased a different unlocked BB that was cingular branded, I had no problem sending the service books and registering it with T-mobile. Only this Suncom branded phone is giving me problems.

2) I wiped the BB, and re-installed the OS - and in my registry, there is no policy entry, so I assume there is no IT Policy installed.

Any ideas?

Goto Options => Status and type B U Y R, I thinkU'll see Policy Enabled.
If I was wrong, you can goto Options => netword and change option to "Manual" do a scan for network, and tell me what you see.
What's BB say when you make a call? and when you call to number in your BB?

Thank you Phuongcv : Here is the situation:
- I did follow the remove IT Policy thread, and when I do a restart after pulling out the battery, I get the message "This blackberry has a blank IT Policy authored by John" or something...
-And it is unlocked.
- Still only capital GSM, it says it is on the T-Mobile network, but no calls (and cannot receive calls).

Any more ideas? Do I just have a bad unit?

try making an emergency call. if it connects hang up. also go to options > mobile network > menu > run diagnostic and see what your results say.

if you cannot make a emergency call, the pre-amplifier maybe death. You'll need a repair service
