Default new to bb, need help with radio issue 8700g - 04-04-2008, 11:20 PM

i got a blackberry for christmas and decided it wasn't for me at the time. now that i have more to do, i recently bought an 8700g off of ebay. i'm still trying to figure out all of the options. one thing i can't get by is my "radio". it says that i can't make any calls, send any sms or emails because it's off. when i got into my options tab, down to the status, the signal line says "radio off". when i click on it, it gives me the options of database sizes, copy or close. i have no idea what to do next or how to get my signal up so i can finally start making calls and sending messages. i have no idea where to start searching in this forum so i thought i would post a thread up for any help / feedback from the much more knowledgeable folks. thanks.

there is an option for mobile network under options that will allow you to change this. or you can go to the manage connections / wireless on/off icon on the main icon screen. try those.

ok, now that i turned my wireless on, it searched around for networks and found t-mobile (which i'm under). but now on the top of the screen next to the signal bars, it says edge and across the top is says data connection refused. should i be worried about this? is there anything i can do to fix it?

do you have a BlackBerry data plan? if you do not then dont worry about it. your device will work just fine.
