Default help with replacement 8703e - 04-07-2008, 01:01 PM

I just got a replacement 8703e verizon bb for one that broke last week. I've spent the past hour reconfiguring everything to try to get my settings back to the way they were on the old phone, but I'm having a bit of trouble.

1. On the old phone, I had the more icons available to me on the homescreen. Now, they tuck a bunch of icons that I want directly on the home screen, like alarm, memo, tasks, brickbreaker, into the tools, settings, and applications icons on the homescreen. Is there any way to bring those applications back up to the homescreen?

2. On the old phone, when I selected keyboard lock, all that I had to do to unlock the keyboard was touch the trackwheel, roll it up to "unlock," and click unlock. Now I have to push the star send thing to unlock it. Is there anyway to change it back?

3. Is it possible to get rid of the annoying asterisk next to the new message indicator every time I get a new message?

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

To address the first question, click menu-show all.
Did you have a backup from the old device that you can restore.
As far as the asterisk, what OS are you using?
The first time I saw the asterisk was in 4.3 which I thought you couldn't get with your device.

1.) There is either a different theme being used on the phone or the icons are hidden: Try Options>Theme (and Chose a different one like AT&T) After you have tried the themes if they still do not show go into the application list and hit Menu>Show All. If you see greyed out icons, highligh them and hit menu>(Uncheck Hide).

2.) This sounds like a different version of the OS and I don't think you can change it without downgrading the OS.

3.) I don't believe that this can be disabled.

Good Luck!
