Question Transferring Address Book from one 8700g to another - 04-18-2008, 09:55 AM

How do I transfer the entries in the address book from my old 8700g to the new one? I've tried downloading the information to my MacG via the Pocket Mac application, but this does not work? Can I just take both devices to a T-Mobile store and ask them to do it for me?

Do you ONLY have access to a Mac? You need to use the PC > Desktop Manager software from BB, > Switch Device Wizard. That will move everthing from one to the other, if you have both devices. If you won't have both at the same time, do a complete back up on the old device, and restore to the new device, again in Desktop Manager.

Ahh but for us MAC users, that is not an option JSanders :P

What address book client do you use? Example could be I have both "AddressBook" that comes with Mac but I also downloaded Thunderbird Mail client and that comes with an address book.

I know that Mac users don't have that option, I own four Macs, but if he could get to a PC, the issue would be settled and transferred.

Sure but every other time he needed to store his contacts or switch the device again he would have to find another PC. Why not just get it to work with what he has now if that is available?

Oh I agree... that is the best thing to do, especially for the long run.

I don't know the users situation and wanted to provide an alternative.

No worries. Alternatives are wicked easy fixes, have used my sister's PC lots to fix stuff on my BlackBerry, but it always messes me up in the long run.

Unhappy Transferring Address Book from one 8700g to another - 04-19-2008, 05:20 AM

I'd forgotten that the last time this happened, I needed to find a PC. So, i now recall the the Pocket Mac Sync Manager doesn't really work with Blackberries, even though it has a BB icon on it. Oy.
