Default 8700 Bluetooth disabled... - 04-27-2008, 10:52 PM

Hello everyone.

I recently purchased an unlocked 8700g and I'm having some difficulty with the bluetooth.

I cannot enable it at all. I go into the menu and click on the bluetooth icon, click the wheel again and one of the options is to "Enable Bluetooth". When I slect that and click it, nothing happens. It still says "Bluetooth Disabled"

Any ideas? Should I be taking this thing back and exchanging it?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm very new to Blackberry devices, but I did manage to upgrade to the latest OS.

Have you tried adding a Bluetooth device?

Options > Bluetooth. Click to enable bluetooth, that should do it.

Do you have a BT device paired already?

I think it depends on the OS version. If I remember correctly, on the older OS's you have to add the device in order to enable the bluetooth.

What is the OS version? Look in Options (or Settings) >About for your OS version.

Thanks for the replies guys.

As per my original post, I'm running the latest. 4.2.1.192? The one stickied at the top.

Also as per my original post, I have already gone into the menu and selected "Enable bluetooth". It just doesn't do it.

I have tried to pair it with my Motorola headset.

Any other suggestions other than those two obvious ones?

Does it have an IT policy on it?

Yes the phone is used. It was refurbished.

How would I check any IT policies?
