Default missed call alerts for 8700g? - 05-03-2008, 12:04 AM

I just switched from Palm to a BB 8700g and am dismayed to discover the LED does not flash when I miss a call or have a message. The only notification is an envelope on the main screen, which I think is lame, considering that even the dumbest phone on the market will flash on missed calls. I searched this forum and found people talking about BB Alerts, but that s/w is not compatible with the 8700g. Has anyone found s/w that is compatible that provides the functionality of BB Alerts for the 8700g?

darcy, welcome to the BBForums!

Ahhhhh, but it will alert you to messages... audible and LED...
How do I edit my notification tones (profiles)? - BlackBerryFAQ

And, BBAlerts IS certainly compatible with the 8700g, I used it myself on that model for a couple of years. You will need that for Missed Calls.

Not lame, in the least! Feel free to post back with questions should you have some.

Good luck, go enjoy it.

Wow, thanks for the speedy response! I actually have already tried the first suggestion, (altering the profiles) and found that the LED notifications time out after about 10 or 15 minutes, so if I don't catch the missed call within that window, the LED stops flashing. But I will re-read the instructions which you very kindly provided and make sure that I did it correctly.

But you mention as a second option that you have used BB Alerts for several years, so I guess even though the developers do not list the 8700g on their list of supported devices, it will still work. If I can't make the first option work, then I will probably go ahead and get BB Alerts then.

Thanks!

Correct on the missed calls, it will only alert for a short while.

BBALlerts is one choice, and Messener Alerts is another option.
