Default Can't send or receive email on my 8700c - 05-04-2008, 01:53 PM

I have had a BB account for many years - recently my BB would not let me send or receive emails. I have gone in the BB help site which is totally useless. Emails are supposed to hit my regular account and then be forwarded to my BB. I use an Enterprise Server. Reject notices site my account @mycingular.blackberry.net while the address on my BB says my account @att.blackberry.net. I thought this might be the problem but AT&T says NO. Their suggestion was to remove the BB software from my Laptop and then reinstall it. I have not done that yet. Suggestions?

Wirelessly posted (8310; The Juggernaut)

The mycingular.BlackBerry.net has been phased out. Use the att.BlackBerry.net address.

I have gone into the log in screen and the account has been changed to @att.blackberry.net. But the email reject notices still reflect @mycingular.blackberry.net.

Resend service books and battery pull. You should be good!

Good luck!

One of the real dangers of using the carrier supplied email address.

Delete the mycingular address.

Delete the service books on the handheld.

Add the att.blackberry.net if that is what you really want to use.

Resend the service books.

Consider forwarding to a gmail or yahoo account.

Or just don't forward your mail to ANY address, set it up properly IF you are on a BES...

I resent the service books and pulled battery. Received message on BB that said I had successfully loaded my account @att.blackberry.net and I should begin receiving emails in about 20 minutes. If it works I thank you profusely for your assistance - if it doesn't - I thank you anyway.

Yes it should, but you might take seriously the recommendations not to forward mail the blackberry.net address, anyway.

Hmm - possibly I am not communicating my problem clearly. Email is sent to my business address and then is automatically forwarded to my BB. This is the reason I got the BB. The forwarding address is my account @att.blackberry.net. By the way - forwarding the service books and pulling the battery did not work.

Can you set up the business account in BIS? If so do that vice forward. That would be the best solution.

Did you change the forwarding address in your PC email client?

Or forward to gmail or yahoo.

I tried to set up another account but it wouldn't let me. PC email client? Where do I find this? I'm not sure why I would want to forward anything to gmail or yahoo - my account is on my own website.

Maybe we are not being clear either--you should set you account up directly to the BB, not by fowarding it to the blackberry.net address.

Thanks - your "Methods" info was very informative and sounds like the service I used to have. Unfortunately my WEB administrator has moved away and I have been unable to find anyone who understands the BB process. I will use the information you have provded to see if I can figure this issue out. Many Thanks!
