Default Battery life - 05-09-2008, 10:05 AM

First of all apologies as I'm sure this has been covered any number of times before, but the search appears to be broken, or at least the check string part of it.
I tried Three times to enter a simple string, but each time it threw me out.

question

my 8700 of Two years, quite suddenly the other night began warning of low battery after a days use, formerly it would work all day up until about Ten at night when it went on charge.

my phone habits have not changed, I don't browse any more than before and no settings for light or backlight time have been changed.
there are also no new programs or settings made in months.

I sent off for a new battery thinking that would be it, but its exactly the same after three or four charges.

am i missing something?

cheers
Richard

Wirelessly posted (8700g)

Sounded like worn out battery 'til I read further.

Anything changed wrt the location you are using the blackberry? I'm thinking signal strength. Are you now somewhere different, in a different building at work, that sort of thing?

thats an interesting spin on things i must admit, but no

in fact theres simply nothing i can possibly think of, i've not even altered the desktop theme since christmas.

i suppose i was wondering if the handsets are at all likely to fail or flag a bit, its been on every day for a couple of years.

the new battery not solving the issue frankly floored me at first but I thought
'well, give it a couple of charges from new, see what happens'

but its not helped

hmmmm

Look over that link for some tips... some app running in the background, low signal, something you or the BB is doing different.

I thought location because constantly marginal or no signal for the great portion of your day could deplete the battery faster.

Assuming your new battery is not faulty, I agree with the others. I know you say you are not doing anything diffferent, but I don't know what else. Close or exit applications when you are not using them (don't leave running) and see what happens.

Other than that, maybe your new battery is a dud. Where did you buy it? Is it an OEM battery?

Maybe the charger is bad. If so a new battery will have the same issue
