Exclamation Side wheel broke, how can I clear all user information? - 06-04-2008, 08:00 PM

The side wheel on my 8703 recently stopped clicking. My phone was replaced by the insurance company but they now need me to send the old one back. I have been to Options>Security>General but because I cannot click, I cannot pull up the reset option.

Are there any other ways of reseting the device so my personal data will not be on there for the insurance company? Oh and to throw another wrench in the gears, I use a mac.

Welcome.

Does the device have a password on it? If so, wait for it to lock then put the password in wrong 10 times in a row.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

If you don't have a password, my thought would be to go through the DM and wipe out the handheld modules.

Or connect to the PC and use JL_CMDER to wipe it.

Take a large magnet and stick it to the back of your phone, and then the front. That will erase all of your personal data, garunteed.

Fish are remarkably well adapted to water, whats more, they can swim.

i remeber someone in this forum said ALT + CAP + DEL will do a soft reset on the BB 8700, and before device boot up, click ALT + CAP + DEL again will do a hard reset, never tried myself, but you can give it a try.
