Default How to change my PIN and IMEI? - 06-13-2008, 09:41 PM

Hello.

I'm new to the blackberry world, I bought mine about a month ago off of Ebay. It's a great tool to have, but I was wondering is it possible to change the PIN and IMEI on the phone?

The reason I ask is that I tired to sign up for AT&T BIS, and I put in my PIN and IMEI number, and it said that I needed to log into my account using my blackberry.

The problem is there are no Service books installed on my blackberry currently, so I can't access the web at all.

Blackberry 8700C
OS 4.2.1.114

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Joe

Wirelessly posted (by hammer and chisel)

You can log on to the bis site and resend your service books, as far as I know you can't change your pin and imei
number

You cannot change the PIN and IMEI. Contact AT&T to have the old account deleted.

You can't change that, it is specific to the BlackBerry device you have and can't be changed.
If your BlackBerry is used, likely the previous user has not removed the PIN from their old BIS account, you to ask the carrier to release it.

Correct Dacy

Neither the PIN nor the IMEI can be changed.

Sounds like the old user didn't get ATT to release PIN.

Call ATT they can release the PIN for use

Do I need to know any of the information about the previous owner?

Purchased off of ebay, so I don't exactly know who had it before.

Thank You. Should have checked that prior to buying it, but with the help you all have given, I'll call AT&T tomorrow and have them remove it so I can start using it.

Might be a better option to first touch base with the seller and have them contact the carrier. Much easier that way.
